Getting To And Away

There are two ways of getting to and from Sayaxché; by water or by land. If you choose to travel along the Río de la Pasión there are plenty of boats that you can take down by the docks. It may be easier to book a trip with an operator; again these can be found down at the docks. A trip all the way down the river to Benemérito de las Américas in Mexico shouldn’t set you back more than $130-180, including stop offs at Mayan ruins and Immigration at Pipiles. By bus from Cobán the journey usually takes around 5 hours and costs about $7. Buses usually leave from the riverbank or from the Texaco station near the Hotel Guayacán. There are also buses to Sebol, San Antonio Las Cuevas or Raxrujá where you can change for Chisec.
