When to Go to Tikal

The tropical climate of Tikal ensures hot and humid weather all year-round. The best time to visit is during the dry season, from December to February, when comfortable temperature prevails. With a year-round average temperature of 26 degrees Celsius (79 degrees Fahrenheit), dehydration is common in such powerful heat. Bring plenty of water, though there are also drink stalls throughout the park.

The Tikal National Park is located within the rainforest, where (as you may guess) it rains for at least part of the day during most of the year, so be sure to bring a raincoat protect you from the unpredictable downpours. Christmas and New Year season is the peak period for tourism here, so make your reservations in advance if you want to visit at that time.
