For history and culture buffs, this private museum is a must. Despite its small scale, it showcases an impressive display of Mayan artifacts, ceramic ritual plates, weapons and jade jewelry. With explanations in English and Spanish, this museum places its collection within the context of Mayan culture and traditions. The centerpiece of the museum is a burner depicting an ancient god reviving from the netherworld. Another highlight is a complete hieroglyphics panel from 656AD, depicting the royal history of Cancuén. No photo-taking is allowed in the museum.
