As Cobán serves as a jumping-off point for most visitors to the region, few actually stay and explore the town. Those who do, however, might find Cobán an intriguing and diverse place to visit. Exploring the city can be relaxing and simple. Visit the town’s remarkable Mayan museum, or climb the steps up to the town’s most important church for a bird’s eye view. Test the zip lines and learn about roasting processes at coffee fincas. The town is relatively compact -- allow two to three days to see all of it. From Cobán, you can also conveniently visit surrounding traditional Mayan villages, nearby natural caves, swimming holes and waterfalls. From cultural tours to thrilling adventures, you just need to look deeper to find more.
