A visit to this orchid haven is interesting whether you are a plant-lover or not. The nursery is home to more than 400 of the 770 orchid species found in Guatemala. The best time to visit is between December and February when most of the flowers (including Guatemala’s national flower, monja blanca), are in full bloom. Besides orchids, you can also observe other plants like heliconia, bonsai and ceiba. The knowledgeable guide will show you the oldest plants in history. Situated 1km outside of town, it is within 40 minutes’ walk or 5 minute’s taxi ride ($2.5).
