Continue climbing further fest to a high mountain pass and then dip into another valley to find yourself in the town of Cubulco. The Achi' Mayans live here, and as in most small towns, the main attraction is the annual fiesta, which peaks each year on July 25th. Stick around and you might be able to catch sight of the acrobatic “palo volador,” a tradition where dancers tie a rope around their legs and spin down a pole upside-down until they reach the ground.
