Most of the sights in the Alta and Baja Verapaz being outdoor, they are best visited in the summer, which begins in November-December or January-February, depending on the area, and ends in May. As in the rest of Guatemala, Semana Santa is the height of excitement, with colorful processions and festivities; all towns also hold celebrations for their own patron saints.
