Getting Around

Getting Around

The bus terminal in Huehuetenango is about a mile outside the city center, close to the Pan American Highway. The buses that go from the terminal to ¨El Centro¨ are frequent and cheap at $0.40. During the day the buses leave from the east side of the station, and after dark (before 11 p.m. and after 2 a.m.) they leave from the street outside. A taxi from the terminal to the town center will cost about $4, a pretty high price for only a mile. Downtown is very compact and easy to walk around; however, there are also plenty of taxis and tuk tuks (automatic rigshaws) ready to be hailed.
