The Museo del Ferrocarril is a must see for train enthusiasts or simply those interested in learning a bit more about Guatemala’s history. This well put together museum features several old locomotive trains that once traveled between Xela and Retalhuheu, a replica waiting room and intact administrative offices with all the old equipment and decoration that they would have had back in the 19th century. There is even a replica of a room at the Hotel Zacapa, which would have been frequented by train travelers at the time, and some modern art on the upper floors.
