Teatro Municipal

At the northeast of Parque Central, the theater was built in 1894 by the architect Enrique Jones. On 19 July 1895, General Justo Rufino Barrios celebrated the completion of the Municipal Theater. But during the earthquake of 1902, it suffered serious damage, to the extent that the Official Commission of Engineers recommended its demolition. Instead, a decision was made to restore the building. On 21 November 1908, the second façade was inaugurated. Today the theater holds regular performances.
