The Hostal Tamarindo features comfortable beds, clean bathrooms and a friendly atmosphere. Unfortunately, since dorm beds costing 200L a night (double the price of a private room downtown), it's also the most overpriced hostel in Honduras. This is partly due to a lack of competition, but also because Tamarindo is the only guesthouse located outside San Pedro's dodgy downtown. Although, it's by no means a bad hostel, but the high price and the lack of amenities do leave some travelers grumbling.
