The Hotel MacArthur, located one block behind Los Dolores Church, provides a centrally located, clean, safe environment while you stay in Tegucigalpa. Rooms are immaculate with hot water, cable TV, telephone, and air conditioning if requested.

The hotel has a small swimming pool, secure parking area if you arrive by car, and a cafeteria. Swimming pool hours are from 8a.m. to 6 p.m. The cafeteria is open for breakfast and dinner Monday through Friday and breakfast on Saturday. A soft drink vending machine is available in the lobby.

The hotel accepts payment in lempira or dollars and the current exchange rate is always posted. Major credit cards were also accepted on the last visit however, it is wise to check before depending on this option.

Located at the corner is a small bakery for snacks if the cafeteria is not open. Also available at this corner are all the major daily newspapers. At the opposite end of the street, past the Metropolitan Police Station is a fast food restaurant and a small “pulperia” or convenience store. The pulperia owner is trilingual in Spanish, Chinese, and English.

Continuing past the Church of Los Dolores, visitors will find the pedestrian mall. A wider variety of “fast food” restaurants, bakeries, and pizza places are available here. Visitors will find branches of American fast food chains as well as local fast food places.

The only negative aspect is the proximity to a large evangelical Christian church that is fond of high volume loudspeakers at its facility. We were able to hear music and sermons through closed windows during the Saturday early evening and Sunday morning church services.
