The Bay Islanders are as diverse a group as you can imagine, from the light-skinned and blond who trace their heritage back to British and Dutch pirates to the Garifuna descended from Africans and black Caribs.
Due to the British influence, most people here will speak at least some English, though with a heavy West Indian accent. The islanders are also possessed with that peculiar, easygoing charm that seems to come naturally to those who inhabit a tropical paradise.
