With the growth of tourism in Utila, it should come as no surprise that the island hosts a plethora of restaurants of all stripes, to suit all tastes and price ranges. Many of these shut down around midday however, and it can be surprisingly difficult to get a bite between 3pm and 6pm.
If you're visiting Utila for the marine life, you may want to give careful consideration to what you eat. In particular, the conscientious diner will avoid ordering snapper. Tasty though they may be, their over-consumption is destroying Utila's reef ecosystem (other fish, such as tuna, are fine). Another dish to avoid is conch, whose disappearance is why eagle-rays are no longer a common sight in Utila's waters.
