Cabo San Lucas Overview

Cabo San Lucas is a resort town located in the Mexican state of Baja California Sur, on the tip of the Baja Peninsula.  It has a population of roughly 40,000. Originally known as a relaxed village with good beaches, “Cabo” has bloomed into a full-scale resort town, with fancy hotels, water sports, golf courses, etc. Cabo San Lucas is also known as a world-class sailing destination, with a nice marina and nearby shopping center. There are several spas in town.

Cabo San Lucas has been a popular travel destination for newlyweds for years. And for many good reasons: the picturesque beaches, amenity-fueled hotels, ample shopping and food options, and reasonably priced souvenirs—not to mention the view of celebrity bungalows dotting cliffs overlooking the ocean. But there is another side of Cabo, the side for those not swooning, for those in the single life and those in the wedding parties.

Boasting a constant supply of ideal beach weather and friendly locals, Cabo is located approximately 1,000 miles (1,600 km) south of San Diego, California at the southern tip of the Baja Peninsula. English is readily spoken, but the efforts of visitors wishing to practice their Spanish aren’t lost. Upon checking into a hotel in Cabo, the first order of business is to strip down to a bathing suit, cozy up to the wet bar and order a frozen Margarita and a basket of chips topped with the freshest guacamole you have ever tasted. Afternoon naps are suggested for those who plan to experience Cabo’s vibrant nightlife.
