San Javier Mission

Location:
Loreto, Mexico

Historical Building, Adventure Tour

By Will Gray

This trip takes you on a long dirt road into the Sierra Gigante to see the desert mountains close at hand. En-route you will stop at some rock art, which is not particularly spectacular, then do a second small walk before reaching the mission, which sits high in the mountains. It is, however, pretty expensive for a drive in the desert.

Getting There
Several tour companies take trips to the mission, including Desert and Sea Expeditions, entre Colegio y Pino Suarez, Loreto.
