Beaches of 'TJ' and Baja Norte.
About 40 minutes by local bus, and a milion miles away from the mentality of downtown (centro) is Playas (Beaches).
Being on the ocean, with the Very Large Hills that seperate the rest of TJ being part of Playas, the varation in weather is minimal.
Most of the people here are live long residents (either US, MX, or ?). Playas does not get many visitors, unless it is for a 'local'.
There are several good (basic) motels. All offer cable TV, etc. and don't expect much beyond a Motel 6 or Super 8.
Shopping is Ok, and not Plaza Rio (east of Centro). Most of the shops are family/local affairs.
Public transit westbound is found on 2nd, 3 blocks past 'Ave Rev". White top/Yellow bottom Route taxi's follow the same route as the blue/white buses, Playas 1 and 2. Playas 1 is a 24 hour route.
3 blocks east/west seperate the routes through most of Playas.
Playas can be the best part of Baja Norte, if you are not in a hurry.
