Archaeological Site

The ruined city below the tunnel exit of the Great Pyramid is known as the Zona Archeologica. From this angle the pyramid becomes distinctly more impressive. The ancient city´s central plaza, the Patio de los Altares, and the various other buildings and shrines that archeologists have already excavated include explanatory stone tablets in Spanish, English and Náhuatl. Archeologists are still uncovering new ruins, most of which are still buried beneath the grass. Stand still and you can almost hear the cries of sacrificial victims floating up from underground.
