The sheer size of the Basilica de la Puebla is impressive: the cathedral is the second-largest in Mexico and its towers are the country's highest.
Inside, highlights include a very bloody life-size Christ figure in a glass box and the octagonal High Altar. Also worth a look through the bars is the enormous choir loft with no less than three organs.
In general, the cathedral feels dark and a little run-down - if it weren’t for the obvious location next to the Zócalo, tourists would be better off spending their time on other, more beautiful churches in Puebla.
