Puebla Things to See and Do

follow us

Mexico鈥檚 fourth-largest city is an architectural treat and enjoys a lively cultural and gastronomical scene. It can be hard to choose between churches, art exhibitions, live music or where to grab a bite or a drink.

Famous for its talavera (ceramic works), many of Puebla鈥檚 buildings stand out in terms of decoration. Gift-shoppers will find the ceramics in all shapes at Uriarte Talavera.

There are more than enough churches to see and admire in Puebla, the Cathedral being the largest but with fierce competition in terms of beauty from San Jos茅, San Francisco and Santo Domingo, to name but a few. No trip to Puebla is complete without a visit to the Z贸calo, the social heart of the city and a great place to people-watch.

Among the museum highlights is Museo Amparo with its vast collections of pre-Hispanic and colonial items as well as contemporary art. End the day with a good glass of wine and a typical dinner in Barrio del Artista.

For those who need a break from city life, the close surroundings also offer good possibilities for a day out - be it Centro civico 5 de mayo just above town or the villages and volcanoes a short drive outside.
