Puebla is just two hours by road from Mexico City and four and a half to Veracruz or Oaxaca.
Buses To Puebla From Mexico City
Buses come straight to Puebla’s CAPU station from Mexico City airport (downstairs in Terminal 1) every half hour until midnight and cost $17.
Alternatively, it’s cheaper to leave from the TAPO bus station (buses leave 15 minutes, 3 a.m.– midnight and cost $11) or the Terminal del Norte (buses leave every 20 – 30 minutes, 4 a.m. – 10 p.m. and cost $12).
Getting Between the CAPU Station and the City Center
From CAPU, there are numerous local buses ($0.50) or taxis ($4) to the city centre. The Mexico City airport bus can also drop you at a newer, smaller bus station on 4 Poniente between 21 and 23 Norte, which is more convenient for the city centre and from where there are also express buses to Puebla’s Aeropuerto Hermanos Serdan (check out www.aeropuertopuebla.com/index.html for destination and airline details), though there are no other national routes.
To get back to CAPU from central Puebla, there’s a constant stream of buses going up 9 Sur and 9 Norte. 12A “Villafrontera CAPU” is the quickest route.
Getting Away From Puebla
Moving on, there are 12 daily departures to Oaxaca (7:25 a.m. to 11:50 p.m., $29), and about 30 to Veracruz (6 am to midnight, $20 – $28) as well as other smaller destinations.
