Despite being about as green as antifreeze, Lago Chapultepec (Lake Chapultepec) is a beloved part of the Bosque de Chapultepec (Chapultepec Forest), mostly because you can rent all sorts of rowboats and paddleboats to mess about with on the lake. This is really the only reason to go near it. Prices for a two-person paddleboat start at $3.66 (50 pesos) an hour. (There are all sorts of rules about renting the boats: You must present ID. Children under 1 are not permitted in the boats. Children under 1.3 meters are only permitted in boats with adult guardians. You must pay by the hour. If you get your life jacket wet, you can be fined $3.66 (50 pesos). You can't exit the boats to explore the island in the middle of the lake. Etc.)
Just off Paseo de la Reforma in the first section of the Mexico City's largest park, Lago Chapultepec is near the zoo and can be seen from the top of Chapultepec Hill.
