Housed in a renovated colonial building, the Mexico City Hostel has a lovely light-filled lobby with big, bold Mexico-inspired paintings, a fountain and door attendant, who actually opens the door for you. Rooms have balconies that open onto a central open space, which might lead to some complaints about noise. Bring your earplugs if you are a light sleeper. The location of the hostel is ideal, however, as it is just about a block away from the iconic Catedral Metropolitana on the Zócalo, the main square in downtown Mexico City. WiFi is available in the lobby.
