The area around the Zócalo is a major center for tourism and business, as such there's a huge selection of ever changing places for when hunger strikes. Down Cinco de Mayo and Fancisco Madero is a good direction to head for good deals on breakfast and lunches. Even cheaper local places can be found south of the Zócalo along Cinco de Febrero. There are a few famous cantinas such as La Opera and Salon Corona in the area, as well as the famous (and touristy) locations Café Tacuba and Sanborns de Los Azulejos. For more up market dining though, you´re better off going to Condesa or Polanco.
