Just opposite Plaza de Armas, the Emporio is a safe bet. Rooms are large and furnished in a tasteful if subdued Mexican style, but they’re not as impressive as the tasteful exterior and lobby suggest. Interior rooms, with windows facing inwards to the atrium, can be quite dark. Suites on the upper floors and facing the street have large balconies overlooking the plaza. There’s a pricy restaurant off the lobby and a lounge with live entertainment. The Emporio is one of few centrally located hotels with both ample on-site parking and elevators.
