Adventure Tour

By Will Gray

This long trip runs from Chihuhua, in the centre of northern Mexico to Los Mochis, a gateway to Baja California. Do not expect to be cruising through the Copper Canyon, because the 15 minute stop at Divisadero is the only view you get, but you can still expect some impressive scenery during the journey.

The best scenery is between Creel and El Fuerte, with the impressive valley decent from Bahuichivo the highlight. The first class train leaves Creel at 11.25, the second class two hours later, but timetables change so check before you plan. At the time of writing the first class train arrived in Los Mochis at 10.25pm, leaving it very tight but possible to catch the midnight boat to La Paz from Topolobampo (a taxi to there from Los Mochis costs 250 Pesos).

Getting There
Route goes from Chihuahua to Los Moches or vice versa. Book tickets at any station or buy onboard in off-peak times.
