Acapulco Overview

+ Add a Photo

By Christopher Minster

Acapulco…even the name conjures up images of sandy beaches, tall cliffs, beautiful young men and women in swimsuits sipping piña coladas. This world-class beach resort has been a visitor destination for centuries, and it doesn’t disappoint.

Acapulco features a perfect climate: most daily temperatures average between 70 and 90 degrees (22-33 degrees Celsius) and even during the rainy season the sun is generally out for at least part of the day. The beaches are beautiful and the water generally calm. As a world class resort, there is something for everyone: active sports such as bungee jumping and parasailing, scuba diving, and lively nightlife.

There are hotels and restaurants for every budget, and the hotel industry recently underwent a revamping and reinvention of sorts: the new Acapulco is cleaner and more tourist-friendly than ever.
