Guelaguetza is a popular festivity here in Oaxaca, but you will only find the real thing on the two Mondays following July 16th. To see a depiction of this magical event, should you miss the real thing, head out to Casa de Cantera (shows nightly at 8:30, Murguía 102 ), Hotel Monte Alban (nightly at 8:30, Alameda de León #1), or Camino Real Hotel (every Friday night, 5 de mayo # 300). It’s well worth it to get a taste of what this event means to the people of Oaxaca.
