Museo Casa De Juárez

If you can’t read Spanish, then there is little to do at the childhood home of Benito Juárez, who lived here for ten years (1818-1828). Juárez was one of Mexico’s most influential presidents, the first and only pure indigenous leader to run the country. The building was reconstructed in an unfortunate attempt to recreate a typical 19th century upper-class oaxaqueño house, using replica furniture and utensils. Each room features informational displays (in Spanish only) on Mexico’s social structure at the time, and of course on Juárez’s life. However the lack of authentic artifacts or memorabilia diminishes the historical relevance of this place.
