Museo Parador Santa Maria - Museum Comitan De Dominguez - Mexico

Just 10 kilometers from the Chinkultic ruins, the Museo Parador Santa Maria is a stunning 18th century hacienda converted into a plush hotel and museum. As you come through the stone gate, the first thing you see is the hacienda’s chapel which has been converted into a museum. If 17th century religious art is your thing, you’re in for a treat. If not, there are always the estate’s extensive grounds to wander through and pretend to be a plantation owner in. If you have the cash, stay and eat in the expensive but amazingly located restaurant. With its views over the nearby mountains, it’s a place to treat yourself to tasty local specialties after all the religious art.

There’s no public transport, so you’ll either have to come on a tour or in your own vehicle. Take the turning towards Lagunas de Montebello south out of Comitán, and look out for the Parador’s sign.
