Standing at 1646 meters above sea level, Comitan’s climate comes as a pleasant relief from the sweaty coasts of Chiapas or the Yucatan. Evenings and winters can be chilly so be sure to bring warm clothes. Comitan’s main festival, the Fiesta de San Caralampio, takes place from the 11th to the 20th of February. A whirlwind of food, music, dancing and children dressed up as demons, the city is buzzing with activity during these few days and it’s worth booking accommodation in advance.
