Tourist Trap

By Erin Helland

Around 13 km outside of the city of Oxaca lays El Arbol de Tule, which is one of the oldest trees in the world. Although interesting, it does not really warrant a separate trip. Instead, it is a popular stopping point on the way to the ruins in Mitla.

The tree is estimated to be between 1200 and 3000 years old. It is over 43 meters tall, and has a circumference of about 35 meters. Its size led many to believe that it was actually more than one tree, but recent tests have determined it is in fact only one tree.

Traveler Reviews of Arbol De Tule

A really big tree

Rating: 0%

Biggest I have ever seen. Interesting, but not an essential thing to see while in Oaxaca.
