Chocolate, mezcal, mole and woven textiles. These are what Oaxaca is famous for and what you should make a priority in your shopping adventure. With an abundance of choices, from small shops, cooperatives, the famous mercados (Central de Abastos and Mercado Juárez) and the many street vendors, your main goal should be to come away with your purchase and a memorable experience. Prices in shops are usually set as marked. Haggling with merchants can save you a few pesos and can be entertaining but remember to respect the artisan and the art.
