EXPLORING OAXACA ON FOOT

Walking is the best way to get around compact Oaxaca. All the major sights are within easy walking distance, and you're more likely to absorb the unique atmosphere of this bustling city.

PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION IN OAXACA

Buses are cheap (30c) and frequent if you're feeling lazy or tired. That said, traffic can be a problem. Sitting on a bus, you're likely to be overtaken by shuffling old people and dogs, but riding the bus is a good way to stay slightly out of the center. The stops are easily spotted by their large blue and white signs that stick out of walls on major road. Destinations are clearly printed on the front.

Taxis should cost from $2 – 4 for destinations within the center, but establish your the price before getting in or you may be surprised by what you have to pay when you arrive.
