There is a good bunch of budget hotels here, and most of them with quality and cleanliness at decent rates. The majority of these places will be found around the square, in the area surrounding Av. Juarez. Hot water and air-conditioning can be had at a reasonable rate, though a fan and a cold shower is sufficient. If you’re after something a little more upscale then head to the tourist area of La Cañada, where there are some fancier hotels among cleared rainforest. Palenque also has the area of El Panchan, located at the entrance to the national park for those looking for something a little more laid back and rustic. Along the road to the ruins (past the national park gate) there are also five or six budget places to stay of the outdoorsy variety, including camping, hammock slinging, youth hostels and cabanas.
