Getting to and Away

You can get to Puerto Escondido by plane, automobile or bus. If you are coming via Mexico City you can take one of the flights that leave daily to Puerto Escondido, from Oaxaca City, however, you will need to hire an air taxi to get there by plane. If you are coming by car, you can take highways out of Mexico City or Oaxaca. From Mexico City the drive will take about 11 hours, from Oaxaca about 6 hours. Buses are a great option if you don’t want to spend the money to fly, but don’t have access to a car. Buses depart from both Mexico City and Oaxaca City daily. The bus ride will take longer than the car ride, probably about 12-13 hours from Mexico City and 7-8 from Oaxaca City. Two good bus lines that run from the cities are Estrella Blanca and Crstobal Colon.
