Templo Mexicanos - Historical Building San Cristóbal de las Casas - Mexico

Although it is located near Santa Domingo, Templo Mexicanos is not a tourist destination. As of writing (November 2008), the 1904 exterior of the church is undergoing construction, but the inside is still open to the public. Templo Mexicanos is exactly as the name suggests - a typical no-frills traditional Mexican church that could be found in any of the nearby villages. Ceramic statues of Jesus and various saints decorate the alter of this sparsely furnished wood church. Inside, old men and women dressed in indigenous outfits light candles and pray in the quiet.
