Safety - Zihuatanejo

Zihuatanejo is a pretty safe town, but it is not advisable to walk on the streets alone at night when nobody else is around. When going to and from nightclubs or back to the hotel after dinner it is wise to take a cab. Don’t leave valuables lying around unprotected, and be sure to use common sense. The beaches are safe for swimming, but at certain times of the year, mostly in the summer, there are higher levels of bacteria in the water. Use your nose as a guide as to whether or not you want to swim.
