A stroll around the city's compact old town is best to start at the Plaza de Armas and check out the impressive Jose Clemente Ozorco mural in the Palacio del Gobierno then head around the Cathedral to the cafe-fringed Plaza de los Laureles, the statue-filled Plaza de los Jaliscense Ilustres and the relatively new but very stark Plaza de la Liberación. From there head past the Degollado Theatre and down the pedestrian walkway to Plaza Tapatia to see some bizarre bronze street furniture and finish at the Instituto Cultural de Cabanas to gaze at the impressive Ozorco murals in the chapel roof.
