Lago Chapala

Location:
Guadalajara, Mexico

Boating, City Park

By Will Gray

This is a pleasant destination for a day out from Guadalajara and a trip can take in two different towns for two different aspects of what is Mexico's largest natural lake. Chapala is a functional town with a pleasant lakefront from where you can hire boats out onto the water or stroll the artisan market. A short bus ride away is Ajijic (Pron: A-hee-heek), which has a rather scruffy lake front but is a quaint town with cobbled streets filled with galleries and an American population.

Getting There
