Museo Regional De Guadalajara - Museum Guadalajara - Mexico

This 18th-century former seminary now houses the Museo Regional de Guadalajara, home to a broad collection of natural and human-made specimens. This museum goes on and on with items such as: a mammoth skeleton found locally; the skull of a saber-toothed big cat "Smilodon californicus"; a recreated ancient tomb; as well as pre-Hispanic artifacts and ceramics (turquoise jewelry, clay pots shaped like dogs, pipes, tools, and so much more), old carriages, saddles, ancient typewriters, feathered hats and various other bits of historic junk. Colonial paintings, regional costumes, and histories of exploitation are worth a look upstairs.
