This lush, large triangle of green space south of downtown has a butterfly house in a geodesic dome, an amphitheater, cafeteria, lake, aviary, orchid house, mini "Parthenon" and more. With paved paths arranged in semi-concentric circles, the park is a nice place to go with children or on your own for a little commune with nature. However, you can't take your bicycle in the park, nor your soccer balls, pets, alcohol, skates or boom boxes. You can pose here in a fancy (wedding, prom, whatever) dress for commemorative photos, but the privilege will cost you 109 pesos.
Any tips for other travelers:A "tianguis" market with music, crafts, tattoos, piercings, T-shirts and the like takes place 9 a.m. - 4 p.m. Saturdays, directly west of the park, at the intersection of 16e de Septiembre and Calzada Independencia.
Special things to bring/not bring: You can't bring soccer balls, pets, alcohol, skates, boom boxes, bicycles.
