This is a must-do for any visitor to this area as it offers the chance to see the origin of one of Mexico's finest exports, Tequila. Two hours away from Guadalajara, this small town is surrounded by picturesque rolling volcanic hills and large fields of blue Agave, the plant used to make tequila. In town is the famous La Rojena distillery that produces Jose Cuervo tequila where tours without tasting are 65 Pesos, rising to 100 for a tasting. Better value is a trip to La Cofradia, which takes you to the Agave fields and their distillery with plenty of tasting for 75 Pesos. Then try the 'Mundo Cuervo' for a 2-for-1 margarita.
