The Hotel Morales traces its roots to the arrival of the railroad in Guadalajara in 1888. Along the way, the property has been an inn, a poorhouse and a hotel known for hosting bullfighters, whether they could pay or not. The hotel closed its doors in 1974 but was renovated and reopened in 2005, after the classical neo-colonial architecture had been lovingly restored. Today, the nicely appointed 64 rooms of the upscale hotel surround the courtyard, which is a lovely place to sit with its plush chairs, bubbling fountain and view of the arched walkways above.
