Dining in Guadalajara has something for everyone. There are restaurants of all types and all prices. There are lots of ethnic restaurants and the hungry traveler won’t be at a loss for almost anything he or she is craving. Enjoy traditional Mexican food as well as excellent Italian, Brazilian, Argentinean, Japanese, Chinese, American and much more. The prices range from the cheapest of taco carts, holes in the wall (which are often some of the best for traditional food), and “comida corrida” (a quick lunch) to typical chain restaurants as well as gourmet cuisine and fine dining.
Food carts with different specialties can be found throughout the city. It is possible to tell how good they are, by the size of the crowd hanging around. Starting in the evening, and continuing late throughout the night, many varieties of traditional tacos are served. During the day, steamed tacos or “barbacoa” tacos can be found. Some carts offer tostadas with different toppings, or seafood. On Sunday mornings, menudo can be found in numerous places. Don’t be afraid to try Mexican delicacies such as pigs’ feet and dishes made with meat from the intestines or stomach of a pig or cow.
