The beautifully renovated 1908 post office building has housed the City Museum since 2007, a far more sophisticated and flexible space than the museum’s former home. Through excellently conceived and designed exhibitions the City Museum tells the long and complicated history of Mérida’s evolution as an important city. Mayan town, colonial outpost, capital of an almost-independent country, henequen boomtown and modern city – you will understand better all these important aspects of Mérida through a visit to Museo de la Ciudad.
