I just got back from a trip to Playa del Carmen and I stayed at a hotel called Tropical Casablanca (TCB). It was awesome. The hotel was fantastic. The staff were so friendly and they even spoke English. The entire hotel was so clean and bright with a tropical setting with babies (turtles) living in the senote with the fish. The new owners (for the past year) are Canadians and so am I, so that was cool. The rooms have good working A/C and bar fridges so you can stock them up with beer etc. if you want. It is located close to 5th Ave. where there are lots of places to eat and shop and it is only a block from the beach. They also have a nice pool area with lots of chairs and beach towels. It is really beautiful at night all lit up and fans under the palapa in the main reception area where you can hang out and chat to other people and the staff if you want. The rates are reasonable for the great attention and accommodation you get. I would definitely recommend this hotel in Playa del Carmen as the place to visit.
