Rama Key

Location:
Bluefields, Nicaragua

Other Activity

By Mike Karanicolas

Rama Key is a small island about two hours from Bluefields that's populated by small fishing villages of the indigenous Rama tribe. Some visitors are charmed by the simple lifestyle and traditions of the fisherman, while others find the place cramped and depressing. Either way the place lacks the charm of Pearl Lagoon, which is a far better day-trip.

Pangas for Rama Keys depart from the office in the main pier. Cost is 200 C, and they leave whenever they're full. The first one generally runs at 5:30 a.m., the last one at 3:30 p.m.
