Like many other transfer points in Nicaragua, El Rama is not very touristy. Most people use it as a midway stop between Managua and Bluefields. However, taking a walk around the town can be very enlightening and informative. There are a wide variety of stores selling CDs, DVDs, electronic equipment, clothing and almost anything you can think of. Scattered around town are small casinos with slot machines, a few restaurants, bars and a discothèque – all of which are good sources of entertainment. There is also a park, with a mirador that overlooks the river, which is a nice place to go if you want to relax.
