This unique journey is takes you from Pearl Lagoon to one of the many unique, outlying indigenous tribes, the Mayagna Awas. The walk from town is a forty-minute cultural journey along a cement path surrounded by grass and trees. Across the river, you pass Creole children and families swimming and biking, and then enter a Moskito village, the primary tribe of the Caribbean Coast. After passing thatched roofs and rowdy children, you cross a bridge to the quainter village of Awas. There is a deck there where you can lounge with locals and tourists and take a dip in the lagoon. Directions are listed at Casa Blanca, or just ask around.
